amp quot Most parents of preschoolers will recognize the familiar refrain that Jeanne repeats throughout the book. Callier amp rsquo s writing is clear and simple, allowing Masson amp rsquo s spirited pencil and watercolor cartoon illustrations to bring out the emotions of Jeanne and her mother. amp quot -School Library Journal
Jeanne loves to say amp quot No! amp quot Whenever her mom asks her to do anything - such as pick up her toys, turn off the TV, or get ready for dinner - Jeanne answers, amp quot no, no, NO! amp quot Ho wever, when Jeanne spends the night at her friend Sophie amp rsquo s house, she misses her mom and decides to curb her defiant behavior.
A charming portrayal of childhood defiance, No, No, NO! stresses the normalcy of this developmental stage and encourages patience, humor, and understanding in both the child and the parent.
A Note to Parents by Elizabeth McCallum, PhD, offers more strategies for coping with normal childhood defiance.
