At the grand old age of 41 Shaw, still playing veterans soccer, suffered a routine hip injury which required invasive surgey for a new hip. Shortly after the operation caused by a post operative blood clot he suffered a massive stroke leaving him with paralysis of the left side, loss of speech and partial blindness. Andrew (Andy) Shaw is a 44 years old married father of 2 living in Derbyshire, England. He is a highly qualified Risk Manager with many years experience in aviation having served bmi, EasyJet and First Choice. He has a Master?s degree in Risk earned at the renowned Scarman Centre at Leicester University. He is a Director of the UK?s Institute of Risk Management and at 41 years of age he survived a massive stroke which had a devastating effect on his life.
