Mazo de la Roche (1879 - 1961), born Mazo Louise Roche in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada, was the author of the "Jalna" novels, one of the most popular series of books of her time. Originally published in 1922, "The Explorers of the Dawn" -- her first book -- weaves a series of early sketches into a novel.
