John I. (Jack) Brooks has been a newspaper reporter and editor, Washington correspondent, columnist, magazine writer, Capitol Hill staff director and adjunct professor at Georgetown and George Washington Universities.
Shortly before his retirement, in a casual search through old records, he found a 50-year-old letter from his father sketching some of the family’s history. This launched him into genealogy and awakened an intense interest in America as it was when he was born and as it changed so dramatically during his youth. That interest led to the recollections and research that became No Fixed Address.
