Présentation de l'éditeur

This book is in great measure an abridgment of our larger work, The Principles of Sound and Inflexion in Greek and Latin, and is intended for the use of junior students. It has been our object, avoiding all doubtful points, to give a clear statement of the main principles of the phonetics and morphology of Greek and Latin with adequate illustration. We have added a chapter on Comparative Syntax, for which we are chiefly indebted toD elbriick sS yntaktische Forsckungen and Monro sH omeric Grammar. We wish to express, as on a former occasion, our hearty gratitude to the Provost ofO riel for advice and assistance in the preparation of the book, and also to thank those friends who have helped us in the correction of the proof-sheets.
