Synopsis

Aspects of Modern Study: Being University Extension Addresses is a collection of lectures delivered by Lyon Playfair in 1894. The book covers a range of topics related to modern education and intellectual pursuits, including the role of science in society, the importance of critical thinking and analysis, and the value of lifelong learning. Playfair, a prominent British chemist and politician, was a strong advocate for educational reform and believed that universities should play a greater role in disseminating knowledge to the general public. Aspects of Modern Study reflects his commitment to this ideal, and offers a fascinating glimpse into the intellectual climate of late 19th-century Britain. The book is written in a clear and accessible style, making it a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history of education or the development of modern intellectual thought. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
