Synopsis
The Last Try is a novel written by John Reed Scott and published in 1912. The book follows the story of a young man named Philip Druce, who is a member of the United States Army. Druce is sent to a small town in the western part of the country to help put down a rebellion that has broken out.As Druce arrives in the town, he is immediately drawn to a young woman named Hope Stillwell. Hope is the daughter of the local rancher, and she is fiercely independent and determined to help her father and her community.As Druce and Hope work together to put down the rebellion, they begin to fall in love. However, their relationship is complicated by the fact that Druce is a soldier and Hope is a civilian.As the rebellion comes to a climax, Druce and Hope are forced to make difficult choices that will affect their future together.
