Synopsis

This poem-cycle by Sally Shields, written during a two-year period of intense self-inquiry and grieving, celebrates the author’s spiritual quest and breakthrough to a place of greater compassion, consciousness, and patience. How does one come to “a peace within amid the rain,” Shields asks, and the answer is this book. The answer is poetry, that deepest, most honest conversation with the self. These poems are brave, honest, and unflinching in their zeal for knowing and inner peace. Their charm and energy will prove good company on your journey. Sally Shields in these poems is a beautiful fellow traveler who has opened her heart to you, and in doing so, she has read your own.
