Synopsis

Sax Rohmer was the pseudonym used by Arthur Henry Sarsfield Ward. Ward was a British novelist born in 1883. He is most remembered for his series of novels featuring the master criminal Dr Fu Manchu. The evil Fu Manchu would disguise himself in order to have his victims destroy each other. Fu Manchu plotted against good and spent his time trying to out wit Scotland Yard. The series was extremely popular in the fist half of the 20th century. Besides the novels, there were comic strips, movies and a TV series.

Biographie de l'auteur

Sax Rohmer (1883-1959), aka Arthur Henry Sarsfield Ward, was born in Birmingham, England to Irish parents. He began his writing career at age 20 with the publication of The Mysterious Mummy?in Pearsons Magazine (1903). The Insidious Dr. Fu Manchu, his first Fu Manchu book, was first published in England in 1912 as The Mystery of Dr. Fu Manchu. Dozens of sequels followed. Even after his death, a collection of his short stories was published (1976). He continues to be remembered in the pages of amateur journals and websites.
