Synopsis

In What I Know … Poems of Life, Y.B. Taylor provides readers …insight to being black in America, the comprehensive “charge” of being a woman, the challenge of facing the unknown, and a little something to talk about. ? From a Middle Passage journey across turbulent seas through apocalyptic times, from second class citizenship to a proclamation of “Yes, We Can,” Y.B. Taylor’s What I Know … Poems of Life reflects her interpretations of life as well as the gratification she gets from writing and commanding the English language. ? In What I Know … Poems of Life, “It’s a Colored Thang!” will bring a smile to readers who remember the 1950s and 1960s when Nadinola, Dixie Peach and Ed Sullivan were staples in black households. ? An individual of few spoken words, Y.B. Taylor’s What I Know … Poems of Life exposes a depth and side of her persona that even those who ‘think they know her’ will find enlightening, intriguing, and endearing.
