Each chapter includes a series of questions, allowing readers to test the knowledge they have gained. A detailed appendix gives information on the testing of building materials.
Under its Editor-in-Chief, Professor Haimei Zhang, the editorial committee for the original Chinese version of the book, The Programming Textbook for National Higher Vocational and Professional Civil Engineering: Building Materials, includes many leading members of the Chinese civil engineering community.

Dr H. Zhang has studied in China and Germany with a particular focus on refrigeration and cryogenics.
