Synopsis

The second edition of this practical text, originally titled Mechanical Design: An Integrated Approach, maintains the clarity of presentation that made the first edition so popular. The author emphasizes the use of fundamentals (Part I) to build student understanding of basic mechanics, preparing them to solve complex machine design problems (Part 2). In addition, numerous examples, problems, photos and graphs are included in each chapter to help the students learn how to apply the material to solve practical design problems. Some of the problems are similar to the examples given, while other more difficult and challenging problems are provided and identified with an asterisk (*). Lecture Slides and a complete Solutions Manual are available to qualified adopting instructors.
