Return to a world of memory, love, and hard truths as a woman returns to her family home.
In this novel, a young woman revisits the place where past loyalties, secrets, and desires reshape the people she thought she knew. The return is intimate and unsettled, revealing how a single decision can ripple through a family’s quiet daily life. The atmosphere blends domestic detail with a slowly widening sense of a larger destiny at stake for each member of the household.
Set against a coastal home and a close-knit clan, the story follows the tension between duty and longing, as old wounds meet new revelations. The book traces love, loss, and resilience through inescapable, vivid moments that linger long after the last page is turned.
Ideal for readers who enjoy richly drawn family sagas that blend nostalgia with a keen eye for inner life.

Excerpt from The Morgesons: A Novel
I suppose it was environment that caused me to write these novels; but the mystery of it is, that when I left my native village I did not dream that imagination would lead me there again, for the simple annals of our village and domestic ways did not interest me; neither was I in the least studious. My years were passed in an attempt to have a good time, according to the desires and fancies of youth. Of literature and the literary life, I and my tribe knew nothing; we had not discovered "sermons in stones." Where then was the panorama of my stories and novels stored, that was unrolled in my new sphere? Of course, being moderately intelligent I read everything that came in my way, but merely for amusement. It had been laid up against me as a persistent fault, which was not profitable; I should peruse moral, and pious works, or take up sewing, - that interminable thing, "white seam," which filled the leisure moments of the right-minded. To the personnel of writers I gave little heed; it was the hero they created that charmed me, like Miss Porter's gallant Pole, Sobieski, or the ardent Ernest Maltravers, of Bulwer.

Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the lives of the Morgesons, a family whose story unfolds against the backdrop of 19th-century New England. The author paints a vivid portrait of a family entrenched in tradition, their lives shaped by the rhythms of rural existence and the enduring influence of their Puritan heritage. The story revolves around Cassandra, a young girl growing up within this tight-knit, yet strangely uneventful, family. We witness her journey as she navigates the complexities of family dynamics, societal expectations, and the search for meaning in a world seemingly devoid of grand passions or dramatic events. Through Cassandra's eyes, the author explores themes of conformity, the limitations of tradition, and the subtle ways in which individuals find their own paths amidst societal pressures. The book offers a poignant and introspective look at the inner lives of those who inhabit a world defined by the seemingly mundane, suggesting that even within the confines of ordinary existence, there exists a wealth of hidden complexities and the potential for personal growth.
