Years of good relations between the Dutch and immigrants seem to have "evaporated". Why? Pressure on group's dynamics caused by migration movements, aggression, and political statements. Group and individual Identity threat is a major feature of living in this specific context. The formation of a supranational identity, which includes all groups, is one among the different suggestions in this book which addresses the matter from the perspective of social psychology.

Juan Ernesto Sarmiento has lived in the Netherlands for over 20 years, first working with a group of North African Immigrants in Amsterdam and since 2007 as a Social Psychologist. As a practical academic, his expertise not only comes from his theoretical training but also from his broad experience in different countries with issues related to diversity, identity, minorities, community organizing, community life, grassroots level networking, social justice, religion, and discrimination, among others. He has learned that The Netherlands "has won the battle against water" as well as other significant adversities. This is a proposal for improving group dynamics and cooperation among groups.He lives in Amsterdam, one of the most diverse in the cities in Europe. He and his wife Christine have three children.
