Devlin Bell was raised in the city of Detroit. He is a father of two, Devlin and Klarissa. He was the fourth of five children born to Sharon and Donald Bell with oldest brother, Donald (Ricky); sister, Sherita followed by Johnny and Rio. He was the typical tall and athletic inner-city kid who had hoop dreams. He knew that the only way he could express himself during his youth was on the basketball court. As with many talented athletes, an injury ended his career. Therefore, he had to find another way to express himself after the accident. Writing was never a strong part of his life but one day, he was prompted to pick up a pencil and paper. He now has a new way to communicate. Initially, he only showed his writings to people that were very close to him but with their encouragement, he began writing more often and even started participating in public poetry readings. This book is to share the writings that came from Devlin's display of mixed emotions, and his journey through friendships, love, and life.
