The end result of this political spat was Roosevelt's creation of the FBI, which heightened the political row between the two branches of government in the final year of Roosevelt's presidency.

Willard M. Oliver is a professor of criminal justice at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. He is the author of 50 books including, The Birth of the FBI: Teddy Roosevelt, the Secret Service, and the Fight Over America's Premier Law Enforcement Agency (2019), The Boston Police Strike of 1919: Politics, Riots, and the Fight for Unionization (2023), and The Birth of The State Police: Coal Strikes, Politics, and the Creation of the Pennsylvania State Constabulary. He resides with his wife in Huntsville, Texas.
