Synopsis

Covering his time as a drama student at RADA, the author writes about his student days in London in the 1950s, a time which coincided with significant moments in British theatre. Among the recollections are seeing Richard Burton in "King John" at the Old Vic, remembers Dame Sybil Thorndyke giving him elocution lessons and describing ballet lessons shared with fellow actor, Albert Finney.

Born in Ireland in 1932, Peter O'Toole was one of Hollywood's most highly regarded actors. O'Toole's rise to stardom began in 1962, when he played T.E. Lawrence in Lawrence of Arabia. He went on to appear in such critically heralded films as Becket (1964) and The Lion in Winter (1968). Later successes include My Favorite Year (1982) and Venus (2006). He wrote two volumes of memoirs, Loitering With Intent: The Child and Loitering With Intent: The Apprentice. After battling a long illness, O'Toole died peacefully at the age of 81 in a London hospital on 14 December 2013.
