The lessons from the research are used to explore the government's changes in public health now being implemented, most of which centre on new partnerships called Health and Wellbeing Boards that have been established to work differently from their predecessors.The book assesses their likely impact and the implications for the future of public health partnerships. Drawing on systems thinking, it argues that partnerships can only succeed if they work in quite different ways. The book will therefore appeal to the public health community and students of health policy.

David J. Hunter is Emeritus Professor of Health Policy and Management at Newcastle University and Emeritus Professor in the School of Government and International Affairs at Durham University. He is author of many works in health policy.

David J Hunter is Professor of Health Policy and Management and Director of the Centre for Public Policy and Health, School of Medicine, Pharmacy and Health at Durham University, and a Wolfson Fellow in the Wolfson Research Institute for Health and Wellbeing. Neil Perkins is a Research Associate at the University of Manchester engaged in a study focusing upon the ongoing development and impact of Clinical Commissioning Groups and what value clinicians bring to commissioning.
