Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pa. Aliya "Unique" Vance discovered her passion for writing at an early age. As the second of six children, poetry offered her a voice that was rarely heard in a crowded household. Unique first blessed the mic at Vibes and Verse where she transformed her writing into spoken word, also making appearances at venues such as Word 4 Word and Lyrical Word housed at the beautiful Art Noir in the Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia. The first published work by Ms. Vance was published in Philly Word magazine. Poetry is an emotionally and spiritually healing experience that Unique wants to share with you as she exposes herself in this, her first book, a collection of poems. Aliya "Unique" Vance currently resides in Philadelphia, Pa. with her two children.
