Unlike most of the other screenwriting manuals out there, this short, sharp, how-to book doesn't just analyse screenplay structure. Screenwriting Goldmine goes all the way, actually giving you step-by-step instructions for writing a script, all inside a highly readable 100 pages. No fluff, no padding, just solid writing techniques.
Based on the author's twenty years of professional experience, the Goldmine hands you a complete process. It starts with the blank page, helps you brainstorm your story world and find your lead characters, then guides you gently through the whole thing, leaving you happy and fulfilled and printing off your first draft.

Phil Gladwin has been a professional screenwriter and script editor working in the UK television industry since 1995. He has been hired by (and sometimes been fired by) the BBC, ITV, and many different independent production companies to write or edit TV shows such as New Tricks, The Dumping Ground, An Bronntanas, The Sarah Jane Adventures, Grange Hill, Holby, Trial & Retribution, The Bill, Casualty, Murder City, Bugs, Red Cap, Crossroads, and Berkeley Square, plus a good few others that never made it to broadcast. This is the method he uses to write - a concise, battle hardened, step by step guide that takes you all the way from blank page to completed first draft. Born in Grimsby, back in the olden days of the early 1960s, he has also worked as a cycle courier in central London, a researcher in Artificial Intelligence at Cambridge University, a waiter in London, Brighton and the East Village, and a technical writer for an IBM systems software house. He loved being a cycle courier, but possibly his least favourite job of all was being the man who sat outside a massive freezer keeping tally of the movements of tons and tons and tons of frozen fish. He now lives by the sea in Brighton.
