"Aging - The Autumn Phase of Life" tells the story of the author, his wife and many friends and neighbors who are residents in a continuing care retirement community. Both touching and practical, the book considers how we get old, some of the misconceptions about old age and many issues that must be considered both before, and during, the final years of one's earthly life. Questions about financial planning, spiritual, psychological, emotional and bodily health are addressed and positive, concrete plans are presented for execution. Importantly, the book addresses the pitfalls of denying old age is happening. The personal stories told by the "senior citizens" interviewed by the author are uplifting, light hearted and full of wisdom. This book is a "must read" for those approaching retirement age, people with aging parents who are facing the difficult choices that old age may present and those who are already in their own personal "autumn phase of life." An extensive bibliography will lead the reader to important books, periodicals and websites that are full of valuable information.

Greg Hadley with his wife, Evelyn, lives at Mary's Woods at Marylhurst, a continuing care retirement community located in Lake Oswego, Oregon. After completing his undergraduate education at the University of San Francisco, finishing his MBA studies at Pepperdine University and attending the Harvard Business School, Greg spent his professional life in the business world. He worked for IBM and was General Manager of Computer Sciences of Australia. Then, for twenty years, Hadley and his partners were involved in acquiring, operating and selling industrial companies. After moving from California to Oregon in 1990, Greg established a thriving management consulting practice, spent time as a college educator, author and a professional public speaker. Now retired from his business interests, Greg is still involved in civic, political and community volunteer activities. Greg spent thirty-nine years as an amateur baseball umpire, mostly at the NCAA Division 1 level. He is the author of four previous books. Fundamentals of Baseball Umpiring (Perfection Form Company, 1981) is displayed in the National Baseball Hall of Fame, Cooperstown, NY. His second, Common Problems; Common Sense Solutions (iUniverse, 2004) is directed to the operators of small and mid-sized companies. The third, 100 Everyday Epiphanies (Wine Press Publications, 2005) is an acclaimed prayer book. Finally, God's Words to My Heart (BookSurge 2009) is a devotional book based on sacred scripture.
