Synopsis

Explore a planetary mystery where life beyond Earth meets bold scientific imagination. A father and son pursue the idea that life continues after death, using electricity, magnetism, and early radio tech to reach Mars. This edition presents a narrator’s account of experiments, dreams, and a remarkable journey to a Martian world that challenges what we know about life, loss, and connection.

The story unfolds through an imagined, but carefully observed, voyage into another planet. It blends scientific curiosity with a lyrical sense of wonder, showing how memory and love can propel radical discoveries. Readers will weigh the line between science fiction and speculative science as they follow a family’s search for communication beyond the grave.

- A father’s passion for physics and art, and a son who mirrors his curiosity
- A vivid, visitor-like glimpse into a Martian world and its cities
- The idea that messages can cross vast distances and time through new technologies
- Detailed descriptions of Martian canals, landscapes, and scenes of discovery

Ideal for readers who enjoy speculative science, era-informed narration, and stories that ask big questions about life, death, and connection across the cosmos.

Excerpt from The Certainty of a Future Life in Mars, Being the Posthumous Papers of Bradford Torrey Dodd

The extraordinary character of the story here published, which some peculiar circumstances have fortunately, I think, put into my hands, will excite a curiosity as vivid as the incidents of the narratives are themselves astonishing and unprecedented. To satisfy, as far as I can, a few natural inquiries which must be elicited by its publication, I beg to explain how this unusual posthumous paper came into my possession.

It was written by Bradford Torrey Dodd, who died at Christ Church, New Zealand, January, 1895, after a lingering illness in which consumption developed, which was attributed to the exposure he had experienced in receiving some of the wireless messages his singular history details. I was not acquainted with Mr. Dodd, but some information, acquired since the reception of his manuscript, has completely satisfied me, that, however interpreted.
