Synopsis

This is a family-friendly novel from Unlimited Publishing LLC, rich in historical detail and engaging characters, like books by James Michener. Shortly before the Revolutionary War, a young Scotsman named Angus McDowell makes a solemn promise to his father that will both burden him and bolster him when he comes to the American colonies. Losing his father and family money before departing his homeland, he arrives in America as an indentured servant - but one with brains, stubbornness, and eccentricities that set him apart. His gifts with dogs and horses, and other quirks, both hurt him and help him, as he grows into a leader ready to fight in the Revolution. But he meets his match in Angie, feisty daughter of the owner of a family plantation where he works.
