Synopsis

A musical, inner-city romantic mystery set in the sixties, mostly on the Denver Northside, an area steeped in Chicano, Spanish speaking culture. Unusual nostalgia permeates this intriguing story of a missing person, new love, seduction and growing up in tumultuous circumstances. Has the missing person been kidnapped or worse? Is she dead? What is the source of the mysterious delivery of packages since she went missing? The reader is left to decide just who Coimbra's daughter - the daughter of Portugal - really is. The story is retold amidst intermittent daydreams and awakenings under a shade tree, which leaves the reader longing for more answers than the narrator has provided, hoping that he'll nod off again to fill in the holes, to complete the story. Images illustrating Northside landmarks and associated nostalgia are included. A rich array of music is mentioned to embellish the re-telling of the strange story, which rises to the surface as a written soundtrack.
