Synopsis

This novella and thirteen short stories, including a prize-winner, are linked by common theme - World War or Cold War - but range across several genres incorporating satire, sci-fi, slipstream, sex and spies and across moods from flip to deadly serious. Meet Einstein, Oppenheimer and Marilyn Monroe; find out if James Dean can outwit Josef Goebbels, how to survive Kamikaze enlistment, how aids came to the world. Blacksmith observes past and present through a Judas window, seeing absurdity in the commonplace, comedy in the tragic and malignancy in the frivolous. His thought-provoking stories are often infused with subtle, dark humour and always with originality.
