After receiving her doctoral degree, Dr. Ana Lado worked on various federal grants in local bilingual schools and programs before joining Marymount University in 1992.

She has expertise in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Dr. Lado also publishes articles about "Tellability," a term she coined referring to picture books used to teach English. Over the years, Dr. Lado has taught a variety of courses and helped to expand the department with increased enrollments and offerings, such as methods of TESOL, foundations in reading, reading remediation and development, and creativity and problem solving. Dr. Lado publishes and presents regularly at local, national, and international professional conferences about pedagogy related to picture books.

She developed a Computer Assisted Language Learning program, "e-English" and materials for a certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, "Lado TEFL."
