Dolores Burton, Ed.D.

Dr. Burton is Chair of Teacher Education and associate professor at New York Institute of Technology. She is a former middle and high school mathematics and computer science teacher and school district administrator responsible for the installation of district wide and county wide technology implementations and professional development for teachers. She currently teaches courses in educational research, the use of technology for teaching and learning, and methods of teaching mathematics to diverse populations. She has published and presented in regional, national, and international venues in Europe, Asia, and Africa and consults on topics related to RTI, inclusion, differentiated instruction and assessment, using technology to enhance teaching, and learning and using brain-based learning strategies. She has served on the state education department "panel of experts" on policy for the implementation of RTI in New York State and is a Fulbright Scholar.

John Kappenberg, Ed.D.

Dr. Kappenberg has spent forty years in education as teacher, professor, district administrator, writer, speaker, and consultant to school districts and professional organizations. For eighteen years he was Director of Research, Planning and Quality at the Sewanhaka Central High School District in New York, where he led its long term Strategic Planning Program. He has been Director of Educational Leadership and Technology at New York Institute of Technology and has taught school finance and law, Total Quality Management, strategic planning, and educational technology at Hofstra University on Long Island and Argosy University in Sarasota, Florida. Dr. Kappenberg served on the Board of Directors for the Governor′s Excelsior Award Program (Empire State Advantage) and has produced more than forty instructional, motivational and public information video tapes and DVDs for schools, universities, professional and state organizations.
