À propos de l?auteur

A former teacher and district technology specialist as well as an Apple Distinguished Educator, Luis Perez is currently at the Florida Center for Instructional Technology (FCIT) at the University of South Florida where he is on the staff for both the Laptop Initiative and the iTeach Initiative, two programs that provide training and support on Apple Technologies to faculty and students in the USF College of Education. He specializes in Apple accessibility for special needs students and Universal Design for Learning.

At FCIT, he also managed both Tech Ease and Tech Ease for All, a collection of free assistive technology and web accessibility tutorials for teachers. Perez considers himself an Inclusive Learning Specialist: his mission is to help educators create more inclusive learning environments through the appropriate implementation of assistive technology and attention to universal design for learning and web accessibility principles. As someone who has a visual impairment, he has experienced firsthand how technology can improve the lives of people with disabilities and gives them access to educational opportunities that were not available just a few years ago.

Luis is also a very active presenter at state, regional and national conferences (see the list of presentations in his CV), including FETC, ISTE, AECT, CSUN and others, where he presents to K-12 educators and preservice teachers on Apple iDevice accessibility for special needs students. And he has recently contributed a chapter on universal design in a higher education publication, Contemporary Perspectives on technological innovation, management and policy. Charlotte, NC: Information Age Publishing.
