It is also generally understood by most people living in parts of western Mozampique (Tawara & Tewe dialects), northern South Africa and eastern Botswana (Kalanga & Venda dialects), and southern Zambia (Tonga dialect). Masvingo and Midlands speaks Karanga/Kalanga and Venda dialects. Mashonaland East speaks Zezuru dialect. Mashonaland Central and Mashonaland West speaks Korekore dialect. Matebeleland North and South speak Ndebele, but understand standard Shona. Harare and Bulawayo metropolitans have people who speak all Shona dialects.
