Growing up and as one of eight kids, we all had to take part in helping with chores around the house. That included cooking. Both my mother and father cooked. My mother ensured the family had meat, potato, and vegetables for dinner and my father knew what to mix best to make a great “kazoo” . Before going to bed, my father would make me a Kazoo and we would have fun father-and-son talks. That dish was called the “Ten O’clock Special”. Believe me, it was really good. As a single bachelor, I had already been spoiled with good home cooked food. But at my own home, my parents weren’t there to continue to spoil me. I had to learn quick how to make the good food that I had always enjoyed. When I met my wife, I attempted to impress her with a variety of dishes to show how domesticated I was. On one date, there was a pasta dish. On another day, it was seafood. Other days it would be poultry. A side of rice or potato added to fill the meal. To complete the dish, I had a vegetable to demonstrate that I was health conscious. Well, any way, when I asked her to marry me, she said “Yes”.
