John Artis is a lifetime educator with experiences as a teacher, professor, administrator, and author. He and his daughter each use poetry and personal essays to express their emotions, growth, and knowledge of human behavior. His insights provide a challenge for both himself and those who share his thoughts and analysis. John Artis's childhood began in rural Wisconsin. His life since then has taken him to such disparate places as Showhegan, Maine, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Grosse Pointe, Michigan. His professional life has taken him to well over twenty five states and several provinces in Canada. All of these experiences show up in his poetry and personal essays. In addition to this volume, John Artis has authored twenty monographs regarding education and administration, six magazine articles in professional journals, and well over two hundred speeches on a broad array of topics. This is his first volume of poetry. John Artis and his wife, Julie live in Grosse Pointe, Michigan with their dog, Riley, and temporarily two cats, Thor and Brewster.Together John and Jule enjoy their three daughters and their significant others, their home and backyard, and their cultural life in the Detroit area.
