Chances are -- unless, perhaps, you're Paris Hilton -- you've had to interview for a job at some point in your life. Employment interviews are a fact of life, as sure as bad weather and often as welcome. That's especially the case for individuals who have pursued professional careers as lawyers, licensed brokers, accountants, nurses, writers or other roles requiring special training. For them, the job interview is an unavoidable rite of passage, as essential to survival as food and water. So when the professional goes in for a job interview, the stakes are high. And things aren't getting any easier. Professionals today are facing off against more competitors for a shrinking number of jobs. They've got to scramble in a Google-paced world where the rules can change as fast as a text message. They desperately need an edge. But they're also busy. They don't have time for a tome on the fine art of interviewing. They don't have the patience for Dr. Seuss-style books best suited to college students seeking their first job. They need a survival guide. This book is for them. The Underground Guide to Job Interviewing for the Working Professional talks to professionals in their own language. Structured loosely as a coaching session in which a recruiter prepares the reader for an upcoming interview, it unabashedly embraces the predicament of the job seeker. Alternately authoritative and subversive, it gives a no-holds-barred account of the hurdles a job candidate faces when he or she goes into battle against unfair, inept or clueless interviewers. At the same time, it objectively explains the job interview process, and includes numerous headings and subheadings for easy reference and comprehension.

An accomplished attorney, former writer for documentary television, and longtime executive recruiter, Todd Moster has been involved in more job interview scenarios than any decent human being should be expected to endure. A 1982 graduate of UCLA School of Law, Todd held several jobs in the legal profession, from attorney for the Federal Aviation Administration to deputy district attorney, associate attorney for three different law firms, and finally, as a business and real estate partner for a well-regarded Los Angeles law firm. He has taken more than fifty jury trials to verdict and presided over small claims cases as a judge pro tem. Todd left the practice of law fourteen years ago to become an executive recruiter in the legal industry. He worked for two of the largest recruiting companies in the world before founding his own legal search firm, Moster Legal Placement, Inc. (www.mosterlegal.com), in 2008. Over the course of his career as a recruiter, Todd has prepared thousands of people for job interviews. He’s recruited and placed a variety of legal professionals into jobs with law firms and corporations, including law firm partners and associates, in-house corporate attorneys, paralegals, and legal marketing directors. His company offers a specialized coaching service, Interview BootCamp® (www.mosterlegal.com/Bootcamp.html), which trains professionals in effective job interview techniques. Todd has also worked in documentary television, including as a writer for the popular History Channel show "The Great Ships."
