This small volume is meant to provide a basis for a ten week seminar course on professional issues of interest to undergraduate engineering students. The topics raised are not fully explored, leaving an opportunity for further discussion and discovery in class. Outside readings and research topics are suggested in the Essay Questions at the end of each chapter. A course based on this book can easily be used to assess students on several program outcomes required by ABET for accreditation purposes. Martin Afromowitz is an emeritus professor of electrical engineering at the University of Washington. He began his career there in 1974 after working at the Bell Telephone Laboratories, Murray Hill, NJ from 1969 through 1974. Prof. Afromowitz attended Columbia University and received his BS, MS and PhD degrees in 1965, 1966 and 1969 respectively.
