A Sunday afternoon visit to a community art show, where she spied a lively and colorful painting of two patchwork rabbits involved in a card game, led the author to an unusually successful folk artist in her hometown. She arranged to meet the artist and learned that he was almost unknown to his own community. She is a retired high school librarian who has for years contributed articles to newspapers and magazines, and she soon embarked on a publicity campaign on behalf of this talented artist.
