It's Christmastime, and all around town the sounds of season fill the air. There are holiday carols and laughter mixed in with the silence of falling snow. And Mr. Bix is ready to start selling his Christmas trees! The trees arrive from far away to stand in the park, where families come to pick them out. This year, though, there is one tree that stands out from the rest-a small and sadlooking tree that feels alone and lost. Mr. Bix likes the tree in spite of his arched trunk and stubby branches and calls him Douglas. As the days pass, though, shoppers choose other trees, and some kids even laugh at the little tree. Douglas is afraid he'll be left all alone. But one little old man has a special job waiting Douglas-perhaps he will have a place to be on Christmas Day after all! This illustrated children's tells the story of one small Christmas tree and teaches us not to treat others badly just because they look or act different.
