Alfred Colo was born on the lower East Side of Manhattan, raised and schooled in Ridgewood, Brooklyn, N.Y. He was a prolific song writer in his earlier years; Lyrics came more easily and naturally to him, not to deny his gift also for composing and arranging. In 1984 He came to the aid of a friend in New Fairfield, CT., who had a stroke. Persuaded to stay on, he became a caregiver for nine years, yet remaining in the same residence he inherited after Hans Voggenauer's death in 1993. All the while his poetry poured out from secular to sacred mostly in nature. This passion helped fill his many lonely and desperate hours in his thankless role which helped forge his future as a serious writer. Chapters in Verse was his first major effort, its dream fulfilled here in 2010. Use this book for the sheer poetry, as a devotional, or for any other spiritually deeper study.
