Synopsis

À propos de l'auteur

A distinctly Southern writer, G.Charles Cook grew up in an area of South Alabama not far removed from the effects of the great depression. Many events found in his work are representative of the rural life he lived. He saw the turmoil of race relations and felt the stresses of the era first hand, and many times saw them overflow the boundaries of sanity and reach a comical level. He and those around him grasped at a new world unfolding before them while clinging to the doubts and fears of the past, the past and present often presenting an incongruous state. In adulthood and while working on his bachelor's degree in night college, a professor took him aside and said words of magic: "You can write, and I think you should do it." Charles writes in an easily understood style that brings to life characters who are both colorful and descriptive with whom the reader can easily identify, yet without the crudeness and vulgarity that plague many writings today. Traditional values of time and place are observed in his work.
