Maggie Sharma grew up in Canada and studied linguistics at the University of British Columbia and the University of California, Los Angeles. She writes on the history of astronomy; particularly, the history of the Mount Wilson Observatories. She admits to an infatuation with words that led her to write not only science history, but also poetry, sharing the opinion of W. B. Yeats that: "We make out of the quarrel with others, rhetoric, but of the quarrel with ourselves, poetry."
