The author's persona Angelica Crystal Powers was born on her father’s jet as it flew over the Alps over the border of Italy and into France. And so—though raised in Italy—she considers both countries her native home. Her father, an inventor and entrepreneur, and her mother, a ballet teacher and model, always encouraged Angelica to be independent and travel the journey of her choosing. And so, at the age of seventeen, she abandoned a life of privilege and travel the world in search of spiritual discovery, a three-year journey that took her through the Middle East, Europe, China, Japan, and the mountains of Nepal and India.
