InMay1988, theFirstInternationalConferenceonDissociativeRecombination: Theory, ExperimentandApplicationswasheldatChateauLakeLouise, Alberta, Canada. Thismeeting gaveaconsiderableimpetustothissubject, whichisofparticularinterestforalargevarietyof fieldsincludinginterstellarclouds, planetaryatmospheres, gaslasers, plasmaprocessing, ion sourcesandthermonuclearplasmas. Sincethen, indeed, severalcollaborationswereinitiated betweenexperimentalistsworkingwithdifferenttechniques, betweentheoreticiansdealingwith molecularstructureononehandanddynamicsontheotherhandandalsobetween experimentalistsandtheoreticians.
