Synopsis

The fate of The Villages of The Middle is revealed when the dust settles from the epic war that Book One left off from. After the realization that one of the four villages has fallen to an unsuspecting foe, Shadow is sent on a retrieval mission to ease his mind. Two aspects of this mission stand out from what a simple retrieval mission would be however, Shadow's brother and sister, Dibaratri and Solitara, are to accompany him while they search for a legendary weapon that is even greater than Shadow's own Sword of Chaos. During the journey's start, they pick up an ally from a foreign village and by journey's end Shadow is betrayed by those he trusted most. In an attempt to undo the wrongs of the betrayers, Shadow sets off on another journey, with ally in tow, in order to attain more strength. Shadow is taken through various lands of his fantastical world, each more deadly than the last. When Shadow finally * home, he realizes that he took too long. Although he managed to get stronger and gain another ally in the process, The Villages of The Middle are beyond saving.
