Detailed exploration of the this methodology and potential for rural development from its ashes after protracted military conflict into a model agricultural economy is the mandate of this book. Drawing from examples from developed economies as well as the immerging and developing regions, this compelling and comprehensive essay on the reorganization of Uganda sets out to demonstrate the importance of nucleation of large agrarian communities as a means of achieving sustainable rural development in present day Africa. The practical ideas presented by the author makes this book an important read for all those committed to rural African development. Working with local government structures, Ocitti plans what will no doubt become the backbone of the much needed Northern Uganda and indeed Uganda and African's agricultural, economical, social and cultural reform.

Silver Ocitti earned a first class honors Bachelor of Architecture degree from University of Nairobi in 1977 and a Master of Philosophy in Urban and Rural design from Edinburgh University, Britain in 1981. In 1983 he established a planning, architecture and interior design firm with offices in Nairobi and Kampala, handling numerous projects within the region. Mr. Ocitti's special interest in rural development was fanned by the various political conflicts in Uganda that disastrously affected the rural regions. He served as a board member in three organizations that attempted to address these rural dilemmas. Presently under the Charles Owor Foundation, named after his prominent late brother with whom he served in the rural organizations, he is addressing the concept of nucleated village as viable sustainable developmental solutions to the devastated rural areas in Uganda. In addition to his profession as a rural planner and architect, Mr. Ocitti being a highly talented person was a pioneer in promoting modern gospel music in East Africa. He has recorded three Gospel music albums since the seventies. He is a poet and an artist. He owns a furniture and interior design company, the Feel of Africa Ltd. that had a large showroom in Kampala. Currently Ocitti has concentrated in interior design contracts and the exporting of interior items abroad. Mr. Ocitti is also a farmer. He has developed the first cranberry farm in the region. Mr. Ocitti is a leader in his church. He is married to his lovely wife, Harriet Ocitti with whom he partners in multi-level marketing and interior design export. He has three home-schooled teen-age children, Lamar, Lagen and Lamich.
