Master Walton Stowell II has been a member of the Harpers Ferry community in West Virginia since 1976. His father, Kip, came from New England to work for the National Park Service Design Center. Walton’s mother, Nena, is an Art and Montessori School teacher. The Stowell Family travelled abroad, studying design in Italy, Russia, Ireland, England, Spain, France, and Canada. In 2000 Walton got his Master’s Degree in Architecture from Savannah College of Art and Design. He worked on numerous architectural projects with his father and others. Walton is an artist, architect, author, editor, graphic designer, gardener, landlord, landscaper, martial-artist, eco-warrior, and video film-maker. In 2007 Walton happily married Librarian Noel Tavano, sharing a love of books. As partners Noel and Stowell continue to make music, artwork, and books to help bridge our history with the present and plan for the future, by exploring the creativity of the human spirit. To him the legacy of Harpers Ferry is personal.
