John A. Read fell in love with astronomy after viewing Saturn in a small telescope. In 2016, he became a full-time author, vlogger, student, and dad. In 2020, he was the recipient of the Simon Newcomb Award for science communication from the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada. He is the host of the YouTube channel Learn to Stargaze, and is earning his masters degree in space systems engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
Pumudi Hasula Gardiyawasam was born and raised in Sri Lanka and is currently based in Toronto, Canada. She is a self-taught, digital children's book illustrator. As a child, she was passionate about both art and nature, so she went on to pursue a degree in Zoology. But she never lost her passion for art. In 2019 she decided to make the career change to become a full-time children's book illustrator. Pumudi hopes to combine her natural art talent with what she learned in university to educate young children about nature and its importance, eventually leading younger generations toward making a better world for all living beings. As a nature enthusiast, she would love to design new characters and illustrate colorful, detailed backgrounds filled with plants, flowers, and life. She also loves to illustrate scenes with magical ambiance. Pumudi's style developed around her relationship with nature and is very child friendly. When she is not drawing, Pumudi loves experimental cooking, hiking, camping, reading books, and watching movies with her husband.
Dr. Sian Proctor is a visionary poet, artist, explorer, and award winning geoscience professor. In 2021, Dr. Proctor made history as the first artist selected to go to space with the SpaceX Inspiration4 mission. She was selected to go to space because of her poem titled Space2inspire. She is the first woman commercial spaceship pilot and the only African-American woman to be a mission pilot. Her SpaceX spacesuit is on display at the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum's new Futures in Space Gallery.
