In Mini's Musings Murthy offers poetry on a wide range of topics including lighthearted pieces about holidays and more serious reflections on poverty, pregnancy and human trafficking. Influenced by her work in international health settings and her career as a physician, public health professional and academic, the collection spans a broad range of influences and artistic tones. "The poems are a reflection of my thoughts expressed as rhymes," Murthy says. "The book will make readers laugh, cry and reflect on the various themes in life including its imperfections." Intended to entertain and engage readers on a varied array of ideas, the book is the first published work of poetry from an accomplished educator and author in the medical field. Concise and focused on individual topics, the poems are intended to convey Murthy's inner dialogue in times of peace, turmoil and reflection. It is intended for audience between ages 8- 80 who enjoy reading .

Padmini (Mini) Murthy is a physician and an activist who did her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She has practiced medicine in various countries. She has a Master's in Public Health and a Masters in Management from New York University ( NYU). Murthy has been the recipient of a numerous awards. She was recently awarded the National Council of Women USA Distinguished Leadership and Achievement Award in 2011 at the 100th Anniversary celebration of International Women's Day. Her first book Women's Global Health and Human Rights was published in 2009 by Jones and Bartlett and has been well received. Currently she is the Chair, Committee on Women's Rights of American Public Health Association and serves on the boards of several NGOs including The Eleanor Roosevelt Center at Val- Kill. Murthy is passionate about women's health issues and her research interests include violence against women and HIV/ AIDS. Murthy was elected as fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine in January 2010. Currently she is on the faculty of New York Medical College. Murthy believes that the "pen is mightier than the sword" and loves to write, her collection of poems is an expression of her thoughts and the issues she believes in. She loves to travel and enjoys spending time with her family especially her mom and daughter. She enjoys meeting people from diverse backgrounds and cultures and lives and works in New York, which is one her favorite cities in the world.
