Lawrence Murray was born in Stockton, California in 1960. Shortly before his first birthday, his family moved to Brooklyn, New York, where he lived until enlisting in the Marine Corps in 1978. On August 8, 1978, he entered the Marine Corps at Parris Island, South Carolina. He spent the next 30 years in the Marine Corps achieving the highest enlisted rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant, along with having received two accelerated promotions and six medals for achievement. He is a cum laude graduate of Hawaii Pacific University with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing. He and his family lived in Japan for six years and he has travelled throughout Asia, including Korea, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, The Philippines, and Thailand; and he has also travelled to Australia, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Marshall Islands, and Johnston Island. He and his family also lived in Oahu, Hawaii, for eight years, California for fourteen years where he presently lives, New Orleans for three years, and prior to getting married Quantico Virginia for two years. He has also travelled extensively throughout much of America while being a member of a Marine Corps inspection team. He credits his broad personal perspective as it relates to people, from his many travels. He and his wife have been married for twenty-eight years, and they have a lovely daughter and a handsome son who are well-rounded adults. This is Lawrence’s first foray into writing, and this book is the product of his compulsion to share what he learned during the course of his 30 year career.
