Synopsis

Too often, Israel’s public diplomacy efforts have been reactionary and defensive, rather than pro-active. Following the flotilla incident, Israel was left acting in response to an overly hostile world media in her attempt to defend her right of national self-defense. Only after the publication of the Goldstone Report, Israel presented evidence describing and justifying the legality of her actions. And, when people accuse Israel of being an “apartheid state”, Israel reacts again by defending her actions and combating the perpetrators’ claims. However, Israel devotes little energy to showing her positive side—the side of a nation returning to its homeland after 2,000 years of exile and surviving despite overwhelming odds. This book presents a values-based approach to the defense of Israel. It argues that those standing with historical justice, legal justice, freedom, peace, democracy, truth, and hope, must stand with Israel.
