Hello my name is Charles O'Rourke. I have been writing poems for many years, this is my first book but I am very proud of this book. There is no denying that everybody has their own form of poetry and there are many different types of poems, mine however are personal. Some are based on incidents that have happened to me; others have happened to people that I know. I have never been good at showing emotion or telling people how I feel so writing poetry was and still is my way of getting my feelings out. I hope you enjoy reading these poems as much as I have enjoyed writing them.

This book is an outgrowth of the many poems that I have written over the years of my life. Most of them stemmed from the love for my wife Madeline. Some of the poems go back as far as 1968 when we were courting. The most recent poems stem from the love I felt for her after her stroke in 2001. The poems would come to me at all hours of the day and night. They were persistent. As any poet would tell you the poems are in your brain and just won't leave you alone until you pen them to paper.
