Synopsis
Archaeologist, Alan Brewer, is thrilled to discover an ancient manuscript by Mark, the gospel writer. It tells how St Peter obeys a prophecy and travels to Alexandria, in Egypt, to die, leaving behind coded inscriptions at each city, through which he passes. These give the exact position of his intended tomb. Joanne, Alan's daughter, travels the eastern Mediterranean with her ex-lover, Alan's protégé, Stephen Fleet, who is also an archaeologist, searching for the clues to locate Peter's grave. They are joined by Samantha Macintosh, an old flame of Stephen's, the daughter of an American media mogul. Helped by various friends and allies, they attempt to track down the keys that Peter has left them, decipher the code and find the tomb. However, truth is dangerous. Not everyone wants the truth to be known. There are those who will stop at nothing - even murder - to prevent Joanne from finding St Peter's remains and making the discovery public. Who are the mysterious people following them? Will they be able to locate the clues after almost two thousand years in a region that is still full of conflict and instability?Moreover, there are tensions within their own group. As they travel, Joanne's reawakened relationship with Stephen is challenged by the presence of Samantha and suffers several reversals until a new man appears on the scene to satisfy Samantha's passion and bring a happy ending for them all.The story is packed with action and excitement from the first page to the last. Formerly a teacher, Christopher is retired after nearly thirty years as a clergyman in the Church of England. He now lives in a village in East Yorkshire with his wife Alexandra and their Yorkshire terrier, StJohn. His hobbies are writing fiction, theology and classical music.
