As well as a wealth of practical experience he brings an academic mind to bear - he has an MA in history and a number of academic publications and this book is informed by the exchange theory of Stark and the practice theories of ritual of Bell among others. Samuel Wagar is a Wiccan 3rd degree High Priest (1985), and holds an MA in History (SFU '06). He has founded a legal church in British Columbia and holds its marrying credential. He founded a Temple, mentored the founding of four others, organized a national Pagan pacifist network, published a magazine, ran for election twice, and is a respected public spokesperson for his religion.
